Both chamber walls at the Ruhlsdorf lock have been concreted and shuttered since the end of March. The clinker facing bricks are currently being laid. On the one hand, these replicate the historical appearance of the old brick locks and also form a wear layer for later lock operation. Work has also begun on the reconstruction of the historic operations building. It was removed brick by brick to create space for the lock and is now being rebuilt in almost the same position using the historical building materials and elements in accordance with the specifications of the monument protection authorities.
