The new lock season on the Finowkanal started on Saturday, 18.04.26 in beautiful weather. The historic locks between Liepe and Drahthammer are now open to visitors every day from 9 am to 4:45 pm. Water sports enthusiasts and guests on land can experience the traditional, hand-operated locks up close.
Restrictions due to construction work
However, there will be further restrictions at the start of the season: The western locks between Ruhlsdorf and Wolfswinkel will remain closed for the time being due to ongoing renovation work. A gradual trial operation is planned for the section from Ruhlsdorf to Heegermühle over the course of the season. The Wolfswinkel lock will also remain completely out of service in 2026.
The Drahthammer and Kupferhammer locks and the Eisenspalterei lift bridge can be used on request. Registration is required at least 24 hours in advance with the Zweckverband Region Finowkanal.
