All sheet piling was successfully installed at the Ruhlsdorf, Leesenbrück and Grafenbrück locks, meaning that the excavation pits are now completely enclosed. In addition, the lock chambers up to the waterline and the heads were demolished and the forebays were also dismantled. Stabilization measures were then carried out for the excavation pits. Cross bracing was inserted between the sheet piles to ensure that they could withstand the pressure of the surrounding soil. All of these reinforcements have now been checked and approved by the structural engineer, meaning that the underwater demolition of the remaining lock chambers can begin.
