Update on the 6 lock construction sites

Construction site update Ruhlsdorf to Heegermühle
Some time has passed since the last entry. We would therefore like to give you an overview of the construction progress at the six lock construction sites.

Ruhlsdorf
The solid construction work was completed some time ago. The company building, which was rebuilt in line with its listed status, was given a new roof truss and is now also well protected on the inside. The small topping-out ceremony provided a good opportunity to thank the construction companies. Work on the outdoor facilities has begun; the installation of the drive and automation technology will follow in the coming weeks.

Leesenbrück
The solid construction work in Leesenbrück has also been completed. As in Ruhlsdorf, the brickwork has also been completed according to the historical model. In the coming weeks, the construction site will be dismantled and work will begin on the outdoor facilities. The drive and automation technology will also be installed.

Grafenbrück
After work in Grafenbrück slowed down at times – partly due to the divided excavation pits – it is now progressing rapidly. In the solid construction, the last concreting section of the northern chamber wall and remaining work in the area of the bridge, among others, is still outstanding. The clinker brick work in the lock chamber has begun and now characterizes everyday life on the construction site.

Schöpfurt
In addition to the installation of the drive and automation technology, damaged areas in the concrete were also repaired in the Schöpfurt lock. In addition, the fence on the open area was moved to open it up to visitors in future. Seating is to be installed here to increase the quality of stay. The automation technology will also be connected and then put into trial operation.

Heegermühle
The solid construction work is also well advanced in Heegermühle, where work began one year after the ground-breaking ceremony. Only the final concreting sections are still to be completed on the upper head and the northern chamber wall. Work on the waiting areas and transfer routes is also progressing well.

Wolfswinkel
At the Wolfswinkel lock, difficulties in constructing the temporary flood control system led to a delayed start to the demolition work. Following the installation of the sheet piling, the demolition of the old lock has now been completed to around two meters below ground level. The excavation pit is currently being braced; demolition will then continue – then under water.
