Drahthammer Lock is one of twelve listed historic locks on the Finowkanal, which together overcome a total height difference of 36 metres along a stretch of almost 30 kilometres. The first lock at this site was build during the initial construction of the Finowkanal in 1620. The present lock was completed in 1877 as the second lock during a period when the traffic on the Finowkanal was at its peak of and is still operated by hand by a lock keeper today. Nearby is the Familiengarten Eberswalde, a popular destination for families. The surrounding area also offers shopping and dining options. Directly beside the lock, a beer garden opens during the summer months.
