Kupferhammer Lock

Kupferhammer Lock is one of twelve listed historic locks on the Finowkanal, which together overcome a total height difference of 36 metres along a stretch of almost 30 kilometres.
A lock was already constructed at the site of the former copper hammer mill during the initial construction of the Finowkanal in 1620. The present lock was completed as a new structure in 1875 and is still operated by hand by a lock keeper today. Portage for paddle boats is possible via the landing stages on the north bank.
