Built in 1879 as a war memorial on the Galgenberg (also Wilhelmshöhe) The 26-metre-high circular tower (98 steps) was extensively renovated after German reunification and offers magnificent views of Bad Freienwalde, the woodlands and hills surrounding the town, the Oderbruch and Neumark on the other side of the River Oder. The observation tower forms part of the so-called “Bad Freienwald Turmdiplom” – a special certificate issued for completing a hiking trail and ascending certain climbing towers.
