"Omas Waschküche" Laundry Museum Targatz

Form the outside the laundry museum looks unassuming but there is a little gem hidden inside the building in the rear courtyard at Angermünderstrasse 15 dedicated to the art of washing and collecting. Not far from the actual location, the museum announces itself with an approximately six metre high historic steam boiler with the Targatz inscribed on it. The name has been associated with high quality and innovative laundry care in Eberswalde since 1928. The museum is run with passion by the former owner from the Targatz family. The collection was and is constantly being added to.
You hardly ever think about how the everyday “craft” developed. At the “Omas Waschküche” (Granny’s Laundry) museum, history becomes a real experience. The small room contains every possible model of manual to semi-automated to fully automated washing machines from various centuries as well as irons, laundry presses and mangles, soap collections and advertising materials for washing powder. A hidden highlight of the collection is in a garage in a nearby building: A vintage car from the 30s, when the business began.
Opening hours only on request.
