Finow Canal Region

The Finow Canal is the oldest intact waterway in Germany. The mixture of man-made waterways such as the Finowkanal, Werbellinkanal, Oder-Havel-Kanal and the lake character is attractive. Industrial buildings, the natural landscape and the urban centre of Eberswalde form an exciting contrast.

No other area in Brandenburg offers such a symbiosis of scenic beauty and impressive industrial culture. The Niederfinow ship lift is a spectacular industrial monument on the Oder-Havel Canal, allowing ships to overcome a height difference of 36 metres. Lake Werbellin is one of the clearest and largest lakes in Brandenburg, surrounded by the Schorfheide, one of the most beautiful wooded areas in Brandenburg.
